Hush me

Rake me over the coals, I
Like the heat on my
Back, well you’ve broken it two times
It’s hard to say that I

Like the way that I’m suffering
I’m a sucker for love and a glutton for punishment
Go and do what you’ve done to me
Hundreds of times before

Hush me, choke
And brush my lips with your sweet kisses, a
Soft hand across my face
I learn to love the sting and

You’ve got total control of me
I’m a marionette at the whim of your puppetry
Firm but delicate, holding me
Hand in cuff I play

To the beatings of your drum

Oh when we are one
And you’re the brain and I’m the heart
We’re falling in love
Just like you told me to

Turpentine

Maybe I was only dreaming
Maybe I was only dreaming of
How you’d never peek behind
O, the mask I keep to hide
Maybe I was only dreaming of
How could I be so naïve and now

Stripped away, the lacquer
You know time is turpentine
What remains is the rough unfinished
Husk of me you’ll find

Now we feel the pains of teething
In the silence sitting seething at
All the wrong words hanging on
All the wishes tread upon
Now I hear the sting of breathing oh
How I never meant to make you so

Stripped away the lacquer
You know time is turpentine
What remains is the rough unfinished
Husk of me you’ll find

Oh integrating hot and cold,
Huile et eau
And as days and seasons pass along
So too shall this to grow in twine although

Stripped away, the lacquer
You know time is turpentine
What remains is the rough unfinished
Husk of me you’ll find

To repaint anew
And stain in shades of compromise
They’ll remain til they crack and peel
Enough to feel it’s time to strip again
With Turpentine

White Linen

Lying on the ground, fascinated
By the soft and sudden warmth
Lain in my hand
Guilty hearts abound, so frustrated
That we had to cut the cord
Or suffer the wrath

And I break down all of my graces
Never speak aloud, the breath that we shared
Seemed so close, but don’t let this come to light
We’re caught up in a lie, or just chasing ghosts

Come to me to get all your answers
Brutally confess sinful rapture, ooh
In a letter, coloured rose
Pinned your dress

Sordid dreams soaked in our passions
Unfulfillable, lest we should burn
Judas kiss wrapped in white linen sheets
Open up your lips and let me inside

Falling to your knees on the marble stair
Begging for forgiveness, o repent
Would it be enough to please the gods of love?
O, to please…

Hide in the sun

You can hide in the sun if you want to
Don’t you know we’ll find you by the moonlight
When darkness falls

You know that you can make it in your lifetime
If you cross the hills and valleys in your way
Don’t you know that you’re lost?

For we’ll be waiting for you to come along

In the heart of the valley lies and old man
He’ll tell you how it’s all gonna be
Should you care to listen

He said that death’ll wear the face of an old friend
He’ll come to give you comfort in your sleep
But don’t let him take you
But don’t let him take you

For we’re still waiting for you to come along

And if it’s all the same to you, then it’s all the same to me
And if it’s all the same to you,
It’s all the same to me

You can hide in the sun if you want to
Don’t you know you’re only hiding from yourself
And no one else

You know that you can make it in your lifetime
If you cross the hills and valleys in your soul
Don’t you know that you’re lost?
Don’t you know that you’re…

Lavender

The choir and violins
Set up a scene of matrimonial bliss
He stands and contemplates
All of the years gone by
And the years to come with age and she
Is waiting in the wings
To walk towards her fate

An argument begins
Of what it was they cannot recall
Stark and deafening,
Their voices have made it hard to hear
The things that were said

Lavender and days
When everything’s easy,
When everything’s love and bathed in light
It’s blocked out in time
To cover our ears and to cover our eyes
From all of this
From everything

The choir and violins
Set up a scene of funeral black
Cold and shivering
The mourners are waiting for the
Service to end

Lavender and lace
Are all that remains on
A stone with a name, have we forgotten
Impermanence of memory?
And will we be buried
With all our our hate and all our wants
But none of our needs?

And in between pages
And in between legs ‘til journey’s end
There lies only painful
Lessons of failure,
Lessons we must repeat again
